The Death and the Devil Tarot Cards are bad

The Rider-Waite Death and Devil Cards
This is not true. People who claim this are caught up in their own fears and do not understand the archetypes behind the death and devil cards. The Death card does not refer to physical death, rather, it refers to the rebirth of something new. It basically signifies changes as without death, there is no rebirth. The Death card actually indicates the idea of letting go so that a rebirth can occur. The Devil stems from Catholic Church’s view on everything they want to ban. Others have tried to rename the card or provide different explanations to the card. However, bear in mind that reading tarot cards is not meant to instill or spread fears. The Devil card just serves as a reminder that you may be caught in an unhealthy situation, yet you may be in the dark.

Reading Tarot Cards predicts the future
No, it is absolutely not true. Ok, as much as i love reading tarot cards, i am still very much a logical person. Nobody can predict the future, not for himself/herself or on behalf of others. I firmly believe that the future is unpredictable. It is a matter of actions and consequences. Rather, bear in mind that the future is not cast in stone and unchangable. Reading tarot cards basically allows us to clarify situations. It provides advice to you. However, the action of taking up the advice or doing nothing about it is entirely up to yourself. There’s free will and freedom. You can choose to act on the advice or not to. It is the actions that you take which will determine your future. So, reading tarot cards do not predict your future. Get that straight. An interesting piece of information: tarot readers do not predict these four events: Death, Divorce, Disease and Disaster. Reading tarot cards is not meant as an activity to instill fear. So, for your own sake, do not predict these four events too. If you are not psychologically strong, do not predict these four events lest you believe that reading tarot cards predict your future!

The Tarot is part of withcraft
I guess this myth must be the main reason why reading tarot cards have been associated with fear. No, this is not true. Witches may use tarot cards as their medium but hey, they use brooms too! Do i think the broom is associated with witchcraft? I think the broom is a tool which prevents my room from being a garbage dump! So, just as the broom is not part of witchcraft, do not take tarot cards and reading tarot cards as an association with witchcraft too!
There are many other myths associated with reading tarot cards. I guess the basic idea you need to have is this: tarot cards and reading tarot cards is not in any way associated with the evil. It’s people’s mentality at work. Fear is a very strong emotion and very often, strong emotions overrule logical thoughts. I find it important to have a clear idea of what tarot is and is not before we progress to other aspects of tarot. Stay tuned for more information!

very nice information you provide here. nice blog in general. as a tarot lover and webmaster I have to day that. congrats
what about the myth
that says that you should not by
you own tarot cards that they must be a gift
and that they become somewhat attached that they can hot as if they are mad
Hi Jenn,
Thanks for leaving a comment. Yep, i agree with your point. Another common myth of tarot cards is that the deck should be a gift and not chosen by oneself. This is not true.
So you really think tarot reading cards can not predict the future.
Whenever I do a reading, I find that the reading reflects how i feel inside, almost a re-iteration of how my feelings and thoughts, and what I think will happen in the future.
So sometimes I find it quite useless, it just brings whats inside to the outside.
Though in some tarot reading card books, they say sometimes intuitively you can sense a card that can predict the future. what do you think? have you ever came across a card you think predicted anything?
Hi Dina,
Well, i would say that tarot reading is more like a psychological tool to help you organize your thoughts. I still feel that tarot card reading cannot predict the future. At least i do not feel that it can predict my future.
I am not a psychological expert but let’s put it this way: Thoughts—> Actions—-> Results. If one take tarot reading too seriously and take the predictions seriously, actions originating from the thoughts may occur and hence you see results. In this case, one would think that it is due to the tarot prediction, which i would rather attribute to your own thoughts.
Tarot reading do de-stress. In scenarios whereby you start wondering why you feel so unhappy, etc etc, tarot reading may be able to suggest why. So i won’t say it’s useless.
Our future is really controlled by us and i am glad it is so.
Very interesting. I’ll reccommend my friends to visit you. How much time did you write a post?
Hi Travis,
I am embarrassed to say so but it takes some time for me to create a post. Been lazy, u see, haha. But i promise to be quicker in creating posts.
